Cat Breed
Bombay
Did you know?
Bombay cats are sometimes described as "parlor panthers." They love a warm lap just as much as a dramatic entrance. Some Bombays have even been known to greet visitors at the door, like a tiny feline butler in formalwear.
The Bombay is a striking and elegant breed known for its sleek, jet-black coat and vivid copper or gold eyes. Developed in the United States in the 1950s by crossing sable Burmese with black American Shorthairs, the goal was to create a domestic cat with the appearance of a miniature panther. Bombays are medium-sized but muscular, with a short, close-lying coat that gleams like patent leather. They are affectionate, intelligent, and people-oriented cats who tend to form strong bonds with their families. Often called "velcro cats," they thrive on companionship and are known to follow their humans from room to room.
