Rehoming & Foster Care for Cats
Sometimes life takes an unexpected turn and you need to find a new home for your cat. At Feline Good, we recommend first trying to rehome privately among friends and family if possible.
Foster Care (Fodervärd)
If you need a temporary arrangement, you can look for a foster carer (fodervärd) for your cat. Note that foster care agreements are most commonly used by breeders placing breeding cats with a limited number of planned litters. A foster agreement should clearly specify the duration, whether the cat is a breeding cat, whether it is neutered or will be neutered after a set number of litters, and whether the cat may be shown at exhibitions. Selling or Rehoming via Classifieds
You can also try to rehome your cat through classifieds such as Blocket. We recommend reading their tips for buying and selling animals, familiarising yourself with Swedish consumer law, and using a digital purchase agreement between private individuals.

Emergency Foster Care & Domestic Violence (VOOV)
If you are experiencing threats, violence or sexual abuse, contact Kvinnofridslinjen on 020-50 50 50 for support and referral to protected housing. If you have a cat that cannot stay with you at the protected shelter, the women’s shelter, police or social services can contact VOOV (Veterinär Omtanke Om Våldsutsatta) on your behalf.
Important information about VOOV:
- It is the women’s shelter, police or social services that contacts VOOV – not you directly.
- VOOV places animals at the point of leaving the relationship, not before.
- Always contact a women’s shelter and/or social services when leaving the relationship.
- Inform the women’s shelter or social services that you wish to place your animal via VOOV.
- Kvinnofridslinjen can advise which shelters allow you to stay with your animal and which cooperate with VOOV.
- VOOV’s foster carers are vetted by VOOV and are bound by confidentiality.
- For the most current information, contact VOOV directly to confirm the above still applies.

Paying Veterinary Costs
If you need help covering veterinary costs, ask your vet clinic or animal hospital whether they offer invoicing or instalment payment options. Some pet insurance providers and their lending partners also offer payment plans – compare their terms and any requirements regarding income or credit history before applying.
